On June 24th, 2016, the Inauguration ceremony of the LP4Y Center in District 8 took place at 126/8, Pham The Hien Street, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This is a social project co-sponsored by Saint-Gobain Vietnam and Vinh Tuong Industrial Corporation.
LP4Y is a non-governmental organization established with an aim to helping youths coming from poor families at many countries like Vietnam, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, etc… with English study, computer skills, vocational training and career guidance, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to earn a living and lead a stable life. The LP4Y operation is funded by sponsors all over the work and managed by volunteers coming from different countries like France, England, Netherlands, etc…
Saint-Gobain Vietnam and Vinh Tuong Industrial Corporation have sponsored the LP4Y Center in district 8 with renovation in ceiling, floor, gypsum-board partition and decoration with new paint, etc.... In addition, 5 laptops have also been granted to the Center to assist them with training activities there.
At the ceremony, Mr. Olivier de Bayser – Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Vietnam said he highly appreciated social projects which bring direct and practical benefits to the community like this. He also hoped that the renovation work would bring about a comfortable and convenient space for training activities at the Center. At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Olivier wished that those youths currently supported by LP4Y would further work alongside with the volunteers to spread out those meaningful assistance to more youths in need in the future.
Environment improvement and support to communities are one of Saint-Gobain development directions. Since establishment in 2008, the Saint-Gobain Foundation Initiatives has aided 115 social projects and commits to provide around 7.3 million Euro sponsorship for those activities.
